Laguna mountains

Most people people dont know that there are Laguna mountains in Arizona. Infact they are the mountains south of Mitry lake. We had the greatest time hiking there today. The sky was so clear today and the weather was just right. We got about 30 yards from the top of the highest peak and the kids pooped out. So then we walked through the washes looking at the various tanks carved by running water. I also love going there because of the stories I've read about gold being found there. In 1781 spanish missionaries said that you could walk and pick up gold all over. What a blast!

Bows

Right now I am currently working on two more bows. The first one I am naming Nephi's bow, because It will be made for Tamarisk. Tamarisk is one of the few woods that Nephi would have had access to. I made a short test bow and it passed all the test it did not break till 32 inches. So the long bow Iam making will be great.

I am also making a bow out of mesquite. I am also very excited for this one. I am including some pics of the bows that I have built in the past and also some pics of the wood for the two new bows. My favorite of all these pics are the ones of my kids shooting. I cant wait to get pics of Kenz with the bow I made for her birthday!!!The pic of Ali in the church kitchen has nothing to do with bows, I just thinks she is pretty and it brightens my day to see her.

Mr Fox

This is the perfect day to start my blog. This morning my dog Annie and I went to check my traps.  The desert was beautiful this morning, the air was cool. The sky was very clear you could see all around The Laguna and Gila mountains (the Laguna mountains by Mitry lake not the ones in California). There were even some snow birds driving by on their quads each of them waved as they passed it is good to see people enjoy themselves. Now when Annie and I went down into the wash where my trap was I beheld a beautiful kit fox, Annie sure was excited to see it. I had to kneel down and say a prayer of thanks for such a neat animal. So Annie and I went down into the wash and got the trap and dispatched the fox. We took it home and skinned it. I find that fox skin is perfect for my bows. When it is prepaired and then wrapped on the handle or limbs it dries and forms a tight backing and nice soft grip. So today Mr fox I thank you.
